About
Who Am I?
I am Vonarch, a nobody with time on his hands.
When I was younger I enjoyed video games, movies, & TV shows. At one point I saw myself being a YouTuber, but didn't have what I thought were the means to make good content & be a creator. Then I thought of becoming a writer after being encouraged to do so & found some semblance of joy from it, only to give up upon being faced with reality & never publish anything original.
Trying over the years to break into the content creative sphere, I always felt behind on everything. From manga, anime, & games to the trends associated with them. Not helping matters is the fact I have never been able to strike while the iron is hot in any aspect of my life, resulting in missed opportunities & a string of bad luck.
Now older, I no longer hold onto dreams or aspirations. Joy no longer tints my view of things, instead replaced with depression. In a way, it has allowed me to see things more cynically than being biased by nostalgia & hype. So with a voice for print & a face for radio, I decided to start writing a blog without expectations.
What Does "I Have A Mouth & I Cannot Scream" Mean?
It derives from the title, I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream by Harlan Ellison which is described as tackling themes of technology's misuse & humanity's resilience.
While I do believe technology has been misused and has caused damage to both the planet and its inhabitants, I believe the road of technological advancement to be a gantlet of trials. Once passed humanity, the world & ourselves will be made better. We have simply been failing those trials for a great many years, for humanity has no lasting resilience.
We would rather describe each other as demons before we admit being wrong on a simple matter of opinion.
We would rather blame the machines for the evils of the world when we are their inventors & as such are to blame.
We would rather be ignorant & scream at the world before we sit in silence & listen for a moment.
We would rather equate understanding someone as believing in their ideals than consider it an exercise in civil discourse.
We desire a world of what is right & wrong while not understanding that true humanity does not see things as black and white nor even grey.
We desire a personal zone of comfort while declaring the zones of others dangerous.
In all these ways, humanity has failed & technology has magnified the issues for all to see & hear except those who actively reject the notion that they can be wrong. Rejecting the idea that we are all fools, solely because it goes against the idea that we are greater than what we truly are.
If we are all equal, then no one is greater than or less than another. Yet we cannot reject the idea of morality. That in a system of rights & wrongs, the people who commit wrongs are lesser & those who appeal as being right are greater than others.
Humans are a contradiction. A math problem without a defined solution. It is, however, more inspiring to work on an impossible equation than to merely give up. For that is an exercise in the resilience of humanity.
Not the act of blaming. Not the sewing of mouths. Not the screaming into the void.
True humanity looks & seeks to understand.
